Guiding Principles

Founded in 2004, the Steinway Society of New Orleans is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of piano performance in The Greater New Orleans area and beyond. A goal of the Society is to stimulate and nourish the musical talents of the youth. The Society also provides an annual opportunity for young pianists to work toward a higher level of excellence through performances at the Steinway Piano Society Competition, where the winners are awarded scholarship assistance for future study. Finally, the society offers music advocates invitations to special musical and social events throughout the year.

Partnerships

Our local partners in the arts include the Steinway Piano Gallery of New Orleans, The Musical Arts Society of New Orleans, The New Orleans International Piano Competition, The New Orleans Piano Institute, and many others.

The Piano Bank

Steinway Piano Society’s “Piano Bank” is a free service designed to give economically disadvantaged children (age 6-18) in Southeast Louisiana the opportunity to develop their musical talent by providing a piano for lessons. The goal of the “Piano Bank” is to reach out to children who otherwise might not get a chance to study piano.
